Book Paper Scissors

Collaborating with public and private book-collecting institutions throughout the city, Philadelphia Center for the Book brings together book artists, librarians, educators, and the public to appreciate the book as a contemporary art form within the context of its historical antecedents. One of their Signature Events, Book Paper Scissors is an annual celebration of book arts, printmaking, and paper crafts, hosted by the Free Library, and featuring a variety of artists as well as educational workshops.

Before 2015, PCB was working with a consistent design for several years. To help differentiate from previous years, I chose bright, bold colors and typefaces to capture the eye. Emphasizing the art practices of book arts, printmaking, and paper crafts on exhibit during the event, illustrations of sewing needles, ink, printing presses, and paper can be found floating behind the text.
