Food and Fun Fair
This suite of printed and web elements was designed for the Historical Society of Pennsylvania’s Food and Fun Fair. The event was a celebration of Philadelphia’s vibrant food culture, with vendors, activities, and lectures happening throughout the day.
The design inspiration for this event came from HSP’s collection of various catalogs containing everything from ice trucks to toys, typeface samples, cookware, tools, and specifically, the 1903/1904 Burpee Seed catalogs. The artwork was whimsically placed around the open book to reference HSP’s logo and to celebrate both the vibrant images found within the collections and the food culture of Philadelphia. The special characters found within Food and Fun Fair pulled from the Typographical Advertiser dating back to 1870.
